Ahhh you are talking about expat visas. And that is a totally different subject, all the gulfy states have that rule. Since a male and female can legally get married at 18. As you sure do know this by now, very few LOCAL males do work outside the "family" business. Now I am generalizing, but I am 80% correct.

And no I am not an Emarati sheika, and don't feel the need to fill my ego by being in a separate lounge, all that I wanted was to avoid the perfume smells and the mall atmosphere. I and we are literally prisoners in that airport.


I think it's unfair to dismiss EK for following their rules. Having said that, have you tried Etihad? They have a pretty solid F product (unless you fancy an onboard shower).
And BTW, I did email EK's customer affairs office while I was at the airport, have to say, once I was in Paris and checked my email. I found a very courteous and quick reply. Ok standard, but never the less quicker than any that I got from BA.
