MR Gold status not recognised

I know this happens to a lot of MR Golds and Plats, but this is the first time I experienced it myself.

Mr. Nacho and I were on a road trip in the US and tried out 6 Marriott hotels (SHS, FFI and CY), and previously the Ren in Hamburg. We are on the 90 days Gold thing and we are so shocked by how little you get as a gold (means you spent 1/6 of your nights in a Marriott hotel each year).

Comp upgrade - only once and after some struggle (I know one of the SHS I stayed at has better rooms and CY and of course the Ren has too).

So I wrote an e-mail to Marriott telling them how we were treated in each place and they asked for each property to give me a reply. So far I got 1000 MR points from 1 property that I had to struggle for an upgrade, is it a fair compensation? Or should I ask to extend my Gold status?
