ss315, I think Whistler is a great choice. It's beautiful and peaceful up there, and the drive to Whistler is just gorgeous.
The Westin is a great property. It has every possible amenity and a wonderful mountain feel, and the staff are fantastic. I stayed there one night in July 2000 before moving into a rented house for the remainder of my trip. Many of the staff seemed to know my name within one hour of checking in, and when I came back four days later to do some shopping they remembered me. If you tell them you are on your honeymoon they will probably really roll out the red carpet.
If your budget allows it, you may want to take a float plane tour of the area. Just amazing scenery.
Many great places to eat in Whistler, but the Rim Rock Cafe has some of the best food I have ever eaten.
