arriving at BKK 7.30p from bali, leaving the next morning at 7a. what's the best place to stay (cost and amenities) that's close to the airport?

i see there's an airport novotel, it seems nice enough but expensive. any other options nearby? the other threads i've seen are fairly dated, am hoping for more recent information.

we'll be spending time in bangkok--and elsewhere in thailand--as part of a southeast asian jaunt, this just needs to be a nice place to sleep and possibly get a decent dinner. would be awesome if we could walk somewhere local out of the hotel to do so.
