Hi all,

I have spent the past two weeks reading all of the individual threads and lots on this thread, and am after some opinions if possible please ?

I am flying into LHR (arriving 6am Tues 22 Mar) and do not have to be in AMS until the following Sat/Sun, and I have never been anywhere other than London before.

I am hoping to get some opinions on a good way to spend my few spare days - my thoughts so far are to fly down to Italy and train through a few places, or to do the same in Switzerland ?

I've also had the suggestion of Barcelona, but am not sure about this as one of the limitations I have is that I can't walk for long periods of time (even though I prefer this method of exploring) ... I also love to "people watch" and really am just looking for the best way to explore some lovely scenery.

Sorry for such an open ended question, but I really am a bit clueless as to which direction to head in ... so any thoughts would be gratefully received !!
