Sometimes Delta wont request the upgrade for you if you book your ticket on delta.com but are coming from a site like Kayak. I just had this happen to me yesterday... Called the FO line and the agent said I actually had a block on the PNR preventing me from getting the upgrade. Luckily, no problem. He removed it and requested the upgrade for me.
