I think that Park Hyatt has improved considerably recently, even with F&B. Like most, though, they have a handful of exceptional hotels and others that don't bear thinking about.

In 30 years, I have yet to have a good experience at a Shangri-La, but I may pluck up courage and try Paris this summer as it looks much better than their usual offerings.

I guess we also missed out Oberoi, Taj and Orient-Express!

Orient-Express is improving since Georg Rafael took over as Chairman. They have some fabulous historic properties, so this could be one to watch.

Oberoi generally do things very well indeed - great service and food. I just wish they would get on with some of their overseas projects, which drift along for years and then often never happen (like the second resort on Mauritius and the property in Marrakech).

When Taj do it well they do it really well, but it is a very fragmented brand. You have to look at its luxury properties only and then you find truly excellent experiences in every way. Certainly a brand to watch.
