Lurker -- your Ethiopan beans are undoubtedly better in quality and freshness than Charbucks of any sort. So you're step ahead of us.

I will admit that I have packed a small coffee traveler kit for some trips when I know there will be no decent coffee house near the hotel. It's not a problem in a city like Seattle or Chicago, but otherwise I try to bring fresh beans, a small Bodum electric kettle and a two-cup french press pot. Bodum also makes a press-pot style travel tumbler that works pretty well.

Am I the only one who finds the in-room pots to be pretty filthy? Maybe I'm more phobic than I realized.
