Like the VW Jetta, based on passenger room and cargo space the EPA rates the 9-3 as a Compact. It's a little smaller compact than a Jetta, true. Passing off European compacts as something better/bigger is old hat at National - recall the Full Size Elite ~2002-2009 Volvo S60? That's another EPA Compact.
Well, the 9-5 pricing is similarly inflated as is the 9-3's pricing, and it was my rant about Saab's attempts to upmarket their vehicles simply by inflating sticker price, rather than improving vehicle characteristics and features.
