I'd go against the trend here, and put the Sheraton on the Park way ahead of the Westin in Sydney. The Westin's position is marginally better, but the Sheraton's aura of friendliness and service was way superior.

In Melbourne, the opposite applies. The Westin in Melbourne has excellent facilities and better service. The Sheraton Southgate has great views from its rooms, but nothing else to recommend it.

I've never understood why Starwood has no properties in Canberra, since public servants and business people dealing with them are exactly the types who I'd have thought most likely to use such hotels.
