Definition of 'year' for GGL

I understand that entry for GGL depends on getting 3000 TPs a year for two years... but what is the definition of 'year' please? Reading about other Gold benefits, it looks like 'year' means 'membership year' - which is bad news for me.

Background: I joined the BAEC in June 2010; I made Silver in August 2010 and Gold last month. So do the 2200 TPs I've earned thus far count to the GGL total, or am I back to zero from now? ie do I now have to earn 6000 TPs in the next 24 months to get GGL??? If the latter then I'll start flying *A because my current travel levels aren't going to continue forever...

Any advice much appreciated.
