The business environment has really changed while the mentality of hotels is still 15 years backward! With the wide spread use of mobile phones people are relying on them more and more. Even while at home, some people opt to use the mobile phone, despite the higher rate, just because some business numbers are already stored in the phone.

Hotels should encourage guests to use in-room phone by reducing the rates as every business traveler carries a mobile phone. Hotels have already paid for the telephone network and the quickest way to profit from it is by increasing utilization rather than introducing astronomical rates!
