Hardly, and this is only for domestic. I admit to being initially skeptical but found the process quick and efficient (2nd time round at least). I can't think of a faster way to check in and you can always go and speak with someone as there are staff around to help. I prefer that to standing in a queue.
As for their international products, I believe that on the A380 they have the best economy and premium economy products in the world (although the new NZ offerings might change that). As for business, yes there are better hard products but I have lots of praise for the soft product, the crew, the lounges, the food. The QF F lounge in Sydney is frequently praised by passengers and members of the media alike (the J lounge needs some work though).
I've had plenty of upgrades internationally, much higher than my 'home' carrier, BA.
I'm really not sure where all of this Qantas hate comes from, I think that they are a great airline that isn't scared to innovate for the better.
