I have 3 diff Asia miles accounts each with little over 28K miles and there are 4 of us who want to fly round trip between Tokyo and Seoul.

Here is what i have been able to figure out so far:

I can transfer 10K miles from one account to the other. This will give me 18K in first acct, 38K in second acct and 28K in third acct. Now I can buy 2K miles in first two accts as top off miles giving me 20K, 40K and 28K miles respectively which should be enough to buy 4 award tickets at 20K miles a peice. This will cost me $170 for transfer and $60 each for top off for a total of $290.

Now the questions I have are:

1. Do I still need to add a person to redemption group for an additional $90.
2. If I redeem miles for award travel on JAL what are the additional taxes and fees per award ticket.
3. What kind of lead time is needed for booking tickets. Plan is to travel on March 18th is that too soon.
4. Typically what is award availability for such flight itineraries on JAL. I realize exact availability only CX can provide for specific flights.

I tried calling their toll free number but it was too busy and wanted me to leave a message with a call back number so hoping I can get a quicker answer and some good tips from experts here.
