I am now posting this from the "Kuta Beach" area of Bali (very very close to the now emply "Sari Club" bombed-out site).

Because of the recommendations on this thread, I chose the SLND for three nights and am VERY pleased! The resort is great! As an newly minted SW platinum, I was upgraded to a suite and the lagoon-type central pools are wonderful. The lagoons surrounding the perimeter buildings are great for setting, style and effect, but they weren't actually used by the guests (the central lagoon pools with water falls and artificial sandy beaches were used, as well as the beach itself), so I agree that it's really not necessary to ask for a "lagoon-access room". In fact, the rooms on the higher floors (4 floors total) are nicer for views in my opinion.

The resort overall is great, but my favorite is the private elevated "Thai sala" or pavilion-type structures (with gauze-like corner curtains) next to the beach where you can lounge away the afternoon like a Maharaja with views of the ocean.

The next door SNI is now undergoing a complete renovatin of its pool and recreation areas so those areas were all fenced-off.

I'm going to try the Sheraton Laguna in Phuket next because the one in Dusa Nua was so nice!
