Did your .bomb itinerary ever reflect the switch to the later scheduled flight? If so, what was the reasoning given to you by the GA when you told him/her that you are confirmed on that flight and only need a boarding pass? I can understand that the GA didn't want to personally change itins for 30 people but I don't see how he/she could refuse to board you on a flight you have a confirmed seat on. If you were indeed switched to 7102 and have not boarded UA could have easily left you in ORD without any compensation and ticket to your final destination as you have technically missed your flight.
