For SPG, it is a published benefit ONLY for Gold and Platinum members.
However, you can always try for late checkout at any hotel or chain, regardless of status or membership in a frequent stay program. Sometimes you'll get it, sometimes not.

I appreciate the benefit of all grades of members getting upgrades (Hilton) but as a Platinum SPG who spent many $$ getting up to that level I don't want all members getting those upgrades and lowering my chances for those rooms. Sounds selfish but the truth.
