The 4:00 PM Checkout and the extra point per USD spent are (to me) the best aspects of Gold status.

I don't expect upgrades and am therefore pleasantly surprised when they happen. For example, at the Westin Berlin, I was given a "Guest Office" room, the main benefit of which was a Heavenly Bed (the standard rooms do not have the HB).
