Was on DL3007 MSP-ORD last Thursday and smoke alarm went off during takeoff (VERY loud). Ended up circling and going back to MSP with fire trucks greeting us as we landed. Everything OK, sent us to ORD on different plane, arriving 2 1/2 hours late.
No big deal, made it to my meeting on time. Didn't really think about it much.
Then yesterday I receive this email:
Dear zimme333,
On behalf of Delta Air Lines, I would like to extend my personal apology for the inconvenience you experienced as a result of the 9999411 of Flight 0 on January 01, 2000.
I am truly sorry your travel was adversely affected by our service failure. Please know that within the industry, we have earned a solid reputation for our commitment to operational integrity. To that end, each flight irregularity is thoroughly reviewed to prevent a similar occurrence. I pledge to you that we are dedicated to providing the safe, reliable transportation you expect and deserve.
We value you as a customer and sincerely appreciate your support of Delta. To demonstrate our commitment to service excellence, as a gesture of apology I am adding bonus miles to your SkyMiles account.
These bonus miles and those earned on flights and through hundreds of partners can be used toward award travel on Delta, our 25 partner airlines, and at SkyMiles Marketplace, a new program where you can redeem miles for car rentals, hotel stays, merchandise, and more. Please visit us at www.delta.com/skymiles to verify your mileage balance and to gain access to all of our mileage redemption programs.
It is our goal to provide exceptional service on every occasion, and I hope you will provide us with an opportunity to restore your confidence. Your support is important to Delta, our Connection carriers and our SkyTeam partners. We look forward to your continued patronage and the privilege of serving your air travel needs again soon.
Sincerely,
Toby Broberg
Director, Customer Care
Found it funny how they "value me as a customer" but the form letter wasn't even updated to include my flight info and as of this evening no bonus miles have posted into my account.
I would rather have received no email or miles instead of this odd email form letter with an empty promise of bonus miles.
Thoughts?
