I've been on one Horizon flight from SEA where this was also off and the difference is substantial. The crew made an announcement to advise that this would be the case.
In other words, what you experienced is categorically
not a typical experience on the Q400.
Thanks for the information! It was my first flight on it and I was shocked to say the least. I glad my flight was the exception and not the norm. If I have no other choice I might try flying the Q400 again. If it is anything like my first flight then I'm done.
