Yeah, definitely save it for another route. Redeye F is nothing to write home about. If I were you, I would re-route SFO-JFK and upgrade to BE...they offer a red eye snack on this route which is, AFAIK, a sandwich/salad of some sort...and freshly baked cookies!

If re-routing to JFK is not an option (that is, your final destination is ATL, or your connecting destination only is served by ATL), suck it up in Y, unless you really need the sleep and comfort of the F seat.
