We have stayed there several times and have nothing but good things to say about this property. We loved the rooms we have stayed in. You should really make sure that you get a river view room and if you have any status (platinum or gold) you might get up-graded to a corner room. The Savannah skyline was nicely lit up at night. We also liked watching the huge freighter ships go by. The river leads to some kind of big port. The ships are so huge that the big trailers looked like Lego pieces.
We never encountered delays of any kind with the water taxi. The water taxi staff were pretty friendly. As for cleanliness, I don’t remember having any problems on that front. There is a nice pool (kind of shallow) facing the river with really comfortable hammocks for lounging. I totally recommend staying at the Westin. I think it is probably the nicest hotel in Savannah.
I’m sure that you’ve already researched Savannah and have read all sorts of review, but IMHO it is one of the most romantic and enchanting cities around. I just love all of that Spanish moss. It makes everything look a bit mysterious. It’s full of history and the most of the people are extremely nice. (I’ve found this to be true in most southern states.) There are tons of great restaurants, so you definitely won’t go home hungry. I always recommend visiting Savannah to my friends and family. I have always had a wonderful time in Savannah!
If you all decide to go, I hope you have a great time! (Check out Cheerwine. A very good local soft drink. The only way I can describe it is to say it’s sort of like Cherry Coke, but not really. It’s much more smooth. Whenever we drive down to N.C and beyond we buy a couple of cases for home.)
