The agreements with the crew did not permit a short haul sector and a longhaul sector to be flown on the same day by the same crew, hence Bassa wanted a night stop in SNN on the outbound to ensure the crew did not do a short haul (LCY-SNN) and a longhaul sector (SNN-JFK) on the same day - the night stop would of course generate extra allowances so would have left the crew with a longer trip and bigger income - but it would of course have added to the cost of operating the service so BA did not concede.
Bassa registered a 'Failure to agree' which goes to show how effective those 'Failure to agree' things are, as the service went ahead and has been running now for quite a while
