Personally I feel EK A345 Y seats are much better than some of their 777 Y seats. The order of comfort in Y on EK fleet (my personal opinion again) is:

1. A380
2. A345
3. A330
4. A340 (not much different to A330)
5. 777 (10 abrest, 31-32" pitch, compatc width)

You must be glad that you did the trip in top 2 of their fleet.

I have not tried Thai A345s. But I would take an A345 any day over 777s, especially if 777 is configured the EK way.
Depends which 777s. The old ones had similar seating in Y to what the OP described - seat was angled too high and one can't get their feet to touch the ground. The new seats are pretty comfortable, as Y seats go.
