Don't know if the policy has changed, but I do not think that suite upgrades will be lost if one changes the dates of a reservation.
Last year I had no problem changing the dates of a reservation to which I had applied an "extended" suite upgrade from '09. It is my understanding that the suite upgrades will only be forfeited if the reservation is cancelled outright.
