I've done searches on one-ways, and it has worked.. so yes you can do one way partner rewards online.. I find however, he flight selection is limited, so you may want to call up the airline for all that is available if you see nothing that works for you online.
weird that when I chose one-way search, the system was telling me "Your requested itinerary is invalid and cannot be booked on one reward. "
The one-way trip i was looking for is tokyo-shanghai...
