Now that I know the implications I wont be trying to save a couple of hundred pounds by using seperate tickets in future
My gripe is though - common sense should have prevailed and as Nick mentioned Servis Air contradicted the Montreal agreement
There are many questions here that are unanswered. How much was your ticket from ABZ-LHR was it a cheap ticket ? Did the guy terminating in London have a more expensive (flexible) ticket or did he have status from a FTC.
Did your travel agent not advise you of the risks with your onward (not connecting) flight ? I can't beleive that in this day and age a reputable agent would not have warned you of the consequences of a delayed /cancelled flight.
Were you not made aware of the restrictions on your onward ticket ?
I mean what would you have done if the flight from ABZ had been cancelled ?
Whilst I am sorry of your predicament I have no sympathy for you in this case this was one of the biggest false economies. Still with offshore tax free earnings I't wont take long to earn back what you lost.
I rarely travel on split tickets, and if I do I allow a good 5-6 hours between flights. Most airports have good wifi now and you can often get a good day room rate at airport hotels or pootle into the city for a mooch around or a coffee.
