United: will earn 1K this year, via miles (prior years achieved Premier Executive, also miles)
average segment = 2,420 miles (includes 6 Europe or Asia nonstops).

American: AAdvantage Gold for the first time, via the challenge (14,600 total miles for 1999)
average segment = 1,460 miles.
