As I am a new member here & this is my first post in the flyertalk forums ill start of with a simple Hello.

Ive been surfing quite a lot in here already but never found it necessary to register because i could always find what I was looking for.

Now I have been searching this since yesterday and still couldnt find any good answers to the following question(s):

First one concerns my flight on the 24th booked Y on UA from HKG - SIN. I upgraded to Business at the UA counter in HKG after arriving in the morning from XMN on a KA flight because I didnt want to spend 7 hours lurking around at the airport and I didnt feel like going through immigrations and taking some time of in kowloon.
Question is - with this kind of cheapo upgrade from UA, what will my mileage accrual be? the original Y which I booked or the actually upgraded C? (I upgraded cash not with miles)

Seond leg was LH from SIN-CGK which I also booked Y but stupidly enough yesterday I decided to upgrade with miles to business (if it was worth spending 15000 miles for a 90min flight is another argument^ ).
I have never thought about this one, but question is - will I still receive Y miles for SIN-CGK after upgrading to an 'I' ticket?
