Any major airline stands to lose billions of dollars (equipment loss plus lawsuits, fines, and bad publicity) on a fatal crash caused by negligence. Every flight is therefore essentially a multibillion-dollar wager that they'll get you to your destination safely. I'm happy to take those odds.
