From the late 80s to the early 90s, ORD tore down the old international terminal, built a new terminal for UA on that site, and then built a new international terminal. During that time, there was a temporary international terminal in the parking garage - pax checked in there and were bussed to their plane. So it's possible you did, though I don't recall scissor lift bus contraptions.
