Very interesting

Thanks everyone for your posts so far. ^

Tonight on the BBC news clip there were Americans boarding the British Navy ship in Libya, they were even able to make some smart a$$ comment about boarding a British ship so it would seem the Navy are evacuating other nationalities as well as British citizens.
I saw that guy as well - you think he could have kept his opinions to himself, given the circs.

These workers accept high salaries to work in potentially dangerous countries, cheerfully avoid paying UK income tax, and the expect UK PLC (which is broke) to rescue them.
Interesting enough, although as per JAXBA's post, Canada would probably evacuate me as the spouse of a Canadian Citizen, Foreign Affairs Canada would charge the both of us for the privilege:

Canadian Government chartered flights will be operated on a cost-recovery basis. Canadians will be advised of the cost before boarding; an “Undertaking to Repay” form will be acceptable in lieu of payment. The sum will be claimed upon their return to Canada. Canadian citizens travelling with non-Canadians must sign for the whole group.
Mrs SCB tells me this charging by Canada after the events in Lebanon in 2006 - can anyone verify? Still, if it came to the toss better go with Canada and pay rather than have the UK potentially refuse my spouse (found B747-437B's post very disheartening, more so because he knows the score so well...).

Anyway, let the discussion continue...
