PVR is our favorite Mexican destination to date. We just used cabs there...no need for a rental car.

I found that cabbies in PVR were always very reasonable. In Cancun it was a mixed bag...some guys would try to rip you off, some were extremely fair. We avoided cabs where possible.

We found lots of good streetfood in both Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. I'm sure the travel guides all say "Don't eat streetfood." One of my favorite parts about Mexico is streetfood. I love it. Come to think of it, I try streetfood almost everywhere in the world I go...it's just one of those things with me I guess. The travel guide won't convince me to drop the habit.
