Just putting that out there...
When we flew to SFO, we found the US Air connection quite convenient to LAS and was only $100.

For travelling back to SFO, we flew LAS-MCE on a little Beech 1900. Was a fab flight and we landed at the tiny Merced airport which has a bag scanner, a coke machine and an Avis desk. The pilot gets off the aircraft to get your bag out and drops it at the front of the airport I think the service is run by Great Lakes Airlines, it was a United codeshared flight when we did it. http://www.greatlakesav.com/

We then spent 4 days in Yosemite, and then drove to San Francisco. The drive is pretty spectacular.
