As I mentioned in one of those other threads, they are copying CZ, but forgot about the fact that CZ credits flights based on kilometers flown. So, if DL wants parity with them the 6000 mile award should cost 3704 miles.
Regarding Taiwan, I'm 90% sure that it doesn't count as China officially in DL's eyes, but am 25% sure that it would be possible to push it past certain agents.
