Question Linking two PNRs - best way?

Hi all,

I'm sure there's been talk of this before, but I can't find anything recent.

Anyway, a friend has just chosen to join me on an upcoming trip (well, we all make mistakes from time to time ), and has booked the same flights (KL) as me, but on Expedia (I did it on klm.com). Obviously, we have completely separate PNRs. My question is: what is the best way to 'link' or 'merge' these so that, in case of any irrops, we still end up on the same flights (4 segments in all)?

IIRC, there are two possible options: (1) call KLM reservations and ask them to merge the itineraries; or (2) wait until I do my OLCI and then - I believe - there is an option to "add/check-in another passenger." Does the second method then join the itineraries for all subsequent (i.e. return) legs (if it still exists at all)?

Also, if/when we are linked, does she then share the wonderful benefits () I am so used to as Elite+? (Decent seat selection, I mean: I know I can get lounge access for the both of us.)

Many thanks,
