Poor us, huh? AC is trying to compete and win US pax by offering some deals from there....to be honest, I doubt we are subsidizing them...AC is not operating aircraft at a loss out of the US, they are doing it cheaper so it's totally different.
????

Drugs? Really?

Interesting that you should note that they're operating US routes profitably. By that logic they should be doing even better on the European routes, on which ex-Can fares routinely exceed $1k in Y. And then thers the exorbitant fees for domestic travel. Given that Canadians pay around 20-25% higher airfares than any other country in the developed world, you would be inclined to think AC would be profitable. But no, they're still muddling their way through it and nickel and diming/ price gouging wherever they can. And their profits are, well, theoretical at best.

So yes, I do think the Canadian paying $1k to fly to Zur is subsidizing the American who paid $400 flying from the US to Zur via YYZ. I mean, that ticket costs less than the fuel surcharges and taxes that the Canadian pays on that route.
