Cutting costs beyond all safety levels is nothing new in China and the subcontractors involved wouldn't shed a tear if a major train disaster occurred some day due to shoddy practices.

As a society I do hope that China sticks more to traditional Confucian values again, now that the party is rehabilitating the old master . There are numerous signs of dangerous cold-bloodedness and lack of any community spirit growing throughout the country.

As for acquiring Japanese and German train technology, isn't this what Chinese are privately often proud of? If one can psychologically manipulate the counterpart to surrender their technological advantage without major liabilities, then what would be better case management?
