Being a Canadian with privileges to use IRIS, it has been a joy to not have to wait in line for "Other" - it meant several flights a year and severe questioning but it has been worth it.

On our past trip back for New Year and family visits, my spouse who is a British citizen and I (having had four entries into the UK in the past year as specified by IRIS) tried to renew our IRIS scan as required at the end of two years. We were told that it was not possible as we were two weeks ahead of our expiry date. We were also advised that IRIS was being phased out and therefore, no applications were being taken at this point in time (I received the impressions that the persons at T5 really did not wish to be bothered with yet another "foreigner"). We were so disappointed. We were asked when we would be returning and when we said August, were told that IRIS would not be available - we would have to use the new system.

Therefore, it means that while my spouse whizzes through Passport Control, he will have to wait at least 45 minutes for me negotiate all the hurdles because I carry a Canadian passport. He times it!!! Should be interesting.
