Getting to/from the Middle East is also a bit dodgy on SkyTeam right now, if you're picky about the days you travel. (When travelling into many of those countries, you're unlikely to want to come in earlier or leave later than necessary.) The situation will improve with the new SkyTeam members coming on board next year, but considering that one of them (SV) thinks an A320 is an acceptable aircraft to put on a red-eye from RUH to CDG, I'm not sure that it will be an experience comparable to the present ST members.
