Just back home today after a week at HR Maui followed by a week at Grand Hyatt Kauai. We used a Diamond suite upgrade at each location. The HR Maui was nice as always, but much less crowded than our past visits at the same time of year. When we were checking out the bellman said they'd been only about 60% of capacity that week, but they had 300 people checking in that day and would be at 90%.

Due to the reduced number of guests we never had a problem getting a chair at the pool, and never having a long wait at Swan Court for breakfast (we had a AAA breakfast rate). There were VERY few children there during our stay and only one large group.

My wife and I thought the renovations to the Regency Club were awful. The old club was comfortable and a nice place to sit and have breakfast or a drink in the evening. The furnishings are hard and uncomfortable, with many of them having no back support. They look like the same style we've seen in other Hyatts, very modern looking, and not at all Hawaiian. It looked to us like they tried to come up with an arrangement that would discourage people from wanting to spend any more time there than necessary. The staff in the club was still very friendly and helpful though.

Our suite was 234, a corner at the end of the Napili wing, overlooking the ocean and grounds by the kiddie pool. We didn't notice anything different than the room we had last year also on the corner of the Naplil Wing, even though we had heard there had been renovations to the rooms. We didn't see anything particularly in need of renovation in our room however.
