Does anyone know the Transit limit for US citizens? Someone here mentioned 8 hours; I've also heard 6 hours, and 12 hours--and also no overnights (which isn't the problem, since I arrive around 10AM on UA. There is a flight 11 hours, 50 minutes after my arrival, for example, that is $400 cheaper.)
I need to transit there and am not finding much available for afternoon departures; I'll either have to pay $$$ for an earlier departure, if I can't stay more than 6-8 hours, or book an award ticket. Or I could go to the trouble of getting a Brazil visa, though the times I've gotten them they've only been for ONE year, so it becomes expensive (~$200).
Thanks for your help!
