A few years ago I was on a plane leaving Hamburg airport. We were being pushed back from the stand by the ground equipment, cabin crew were about to give the safety briefing. Suddenly there was a crash noise from outside the plane - in the words of the captain the pole connecting us to the ground equipment snapped. The plane's brakes came on hard (automatically?) and, goodness, it felt like we hit a brick wall.

We weren't going fast at all, all the passengers had their backs to the impact point and protected by the seating, but it was a fair whack. One of the cabin crew, who was standing up, was thrown against the seating at an awkward angle and broke her leg, I can still remember her cries of pain.

Something to bear in mind.
