If you don't like their all in price, call a different carrier. Maybe you will get a better price.
Cameroon strikes me as an expensive place for AF to operate. The underlying fare is less about the distance travelled and a bunch about the cost of the base.
The Delta.com price is nearly double the correct price for that exact same itinerary. (Delta.com is roughly $4000; correct pricing is closer to $2000)
My desire is the get the correct price from Delta so that I can use my Delta vouchers.
We need laws against made up fuel surcharges ($1300 of non-existent fuel surcharges being added to the real fuel charges in this case).
The reason the poorest African countries have the highest airfare is not cost - but rather what the airlines can get away with. Air France generally makes money from their Africa routes and looses money on other routes where they cannot charge $2000 for advance purchase economy to everyone.
A couple interesting facts:
1) Air France serves Paris - Cameroon (10 B777 per week) with about twice as many seats as Paris - Chicago (6 A333 per week).
2) Air France sells First class to/from Cameroon. Chicago only gets business class.
