The "trusted" passenger approach being used for immigration and customs has a statistically insignificant number of caught violators of US immigration and customs rules but the number of such violations by "trusted" passengers has risen considerably in absolute numbers. Then there is the TSA's lamer attempts at such categorization of even domestic passengers supposedly to mitigate against the risk of acts of terrorism which are an insignificant risk to domestic passengers too, no courtesy of the TSA.
