I would inquire if the convention plans to have events where pool and/or beach areas will be closed off for private events during your stay.

I cannot speak to how this property handles conventions, but to your general question on staying at a resort property when they are full and/or having conventions, I often do not like that at all and it has nothing to do with whether I get a suite or not, but everything to do with how the common areas are used.

I've seen some properties handle events so that there is no or very minimal impact to other guests, and I've seen properties where facilities that should have been available to all guests now were closed to all but the convention attendees.
