I had dinner and breakfast at Janos, and found service to be lackluster both times. Aside from one gnocchi dish, the room service menu is no different than any other Westin unfortunately. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and wished I was there longer.
I'm at the Sheraton now, and you can't compare the two hotels. The Westin is a resort, while the Sheraton is pretty much a refurbished fancy Hampton Inn. They're at completely different price points as well. I've found staff to be excellent at both properties.
I have stayed at the La Paloma dozens of times for business, and I agree with most of what is here. Yes, it Is generally a poor hotel for business travelers due to the sprawling layout and the heat for 6 months of the year. However, they do a great job of upgrading plats, and I have seen some massive suites. I am probably in a suite 2/3 of the time. The food at Janos and J Bar is great, but the service in both places is amateurish at best and sometimes shockingly so.
One irritation--invariably, the valets, bellmen, and front desk staff ask me if it is my first time there--no, it is about my 50th...I recognize you, why don't you recognize me?
