I recently discovered that it is against the rules to comment on moderator activity.

Why is that?

Feel free to point me to an archive thread that shows the evolution of this. There's no need to reopen a discussion about a settled issue. I'm more interested in understanding how this evolved.

(8-1/2 years and 2,000+ posts, I thought I would have known about this rule.)
