Another great day on Delta. We laughed, we cried, we lived.

Two things that I'll always remember from this afternoon's PHL-DTW flight.
1) I was on later flight but swapped up to the 2:38p departure and grabbed the last exit row seat. I'm sitting in 8D (exit row on CRJ50), FA pulls up drink cart, serves 8A/B, then turns to us in 8C/8D. The guy next to me and I both have our trays down, with iPads on them. We order our drinks, and as the FA carefully hands them to us she says "All these electronic devices make me so nervous now when I'm handing out drinks. Luckily, nothing's ever happened!!"
She turns back to her cart, snaps off the break, moves back to serve row 9....
Guy sitting in 9B, tray down, on his iPad. Foot in the aisle. Cart hits his foot, and the GIGANTIC, uncapped water bottle (1.5L??) flips off the cart and directly onto his iPad and lap.... no more than 5 seconds from when she finished her statement to us. iPad soaked, shirt soaked, pants soaked, puddle of water in the seat. What a mess!
The guy in 9B took it like a champ and the FA handled it extremely well. I told her to please not say "I've never been on a plane that's crashed before!" or anything of the sorts for the remainder of the flight.

The only reason the guy was in 9B is because a traveling couple had asked him to take that seat so they could sit together a few rows back. Whoops.
2) At the end of the flight, the FA announced that after many years our captain was pulling into the gate for his last leg. I had so much joy watching this captain receive congratulatory remarks as we deplaned. He was holding back the tears and his chest was swelled with pride. Such a fun moment to be a part of. I shook his hand and thanked him, but there was so much more I wanted to say.
To all pilots - Thanks for what you do and thanks for your dedication to safety.
(I also read Checklist Manifesto during my flights today, which has several good aviation stories in it, if you're looking for a read!)
