I only fly because it's quicker and often easier, but when I have time I love to do long distance train journeys too... London - Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Vienna was a favourite euro route, trundling round Morocco is always fun but so impractical to get to by land and sea.
India by train was a fascinating experience and this easter I am planning to go from Singapore - Kuala Lumpur - Penang - Bangkok by train.
I don't pretend to have the lowest carbon footprint in the world, but I don't tumble dry and that helps apparently
